More about Legacy Giving

Annual Required Minimum Distributions

Use your Annual Required Minimum Distributions (starting at age 73) as Charitable Contributions. Avoid income taxes.

Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) are minimum amounts that IRA and retirement plan account owners must generally withdraw annually. Consider this: You want to donate $1000. If you take this RMD withdrawal, you may pay up to 35% in taxes. That leaves you with $650! Donate directly to ENN and the organization receives all $1000.

Retirement assets, including 401(k)s and IRAs withdrawals are considered income (and taxed accordingly). They are an ideal opportunity for one-time and recurring charitable gifts.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit, ENN is exempt from paying the taxes and therefore eligible to receive the full amount of your gift.

Bequests

More than 90% of planned gifts are bequests.

An easy four clicks away–designate a nonprofit as the beneficiary of your investments. Login to your investment account, find the beneficiary tab, and put “Estes Nonprofit Network” for a percent or certain dollar amount.

Or, leave a bequest in your will or trust as advised by your lawyer.

In either case, you can:

  • Gift of a percentage of your estate
  • Gift of a specific dollar amount or asset
  • Gift from the balance of your estate
